Adam Gilberti

Adam Gilberti (June 10, 1981- ) was born in Hayward, California on June 10, 1981 where his musical interests were first inspired by listening to the theatre pipe organ at the pizza parlor down the street. He received his B.M. in music composition at the University of California, Santa Barbara studying composition and orchestration with Joel Feigin and William Kraft and his M.A. in music theory and composition from the University of California, Riverside studying with Tim Labor and Byron Adams. His composition "Reflections of Honor" won him first place in the Corwin Competition of 2002. He recorded in ensembles for the film composers Shirley Walker and [Don Davis (composer)] while attending University of California, Santa Barbara. His works have been performed by various ensembles including the Central Coast Philharmonia and his interest in rare, obsolete or special new instruments (including the sarrusophone, tubax, Serpent, Native-American cedar flute, contrabass saxophone, contrabass and double contrabass flutes, glass harmonica, earth harp, Chinese erhu, and C melody saxophone) has inspired works for large orchestras extending the acoustic timbres of the classical ensemble. He is currently studying at UCLA in the doctoral program in composition where he studies with Paul Chihara, Roger Bourland, David Lefokowitz and Bruce Broughton.
