- Time-lapse phonography
Time-lapse phonography is the name for an
audio signal processing technique developed byR. Luke DuBois for his pieces [http://www.cantaloupemusic.com/CA21020.html Messiah] and [http://lukedubois.com/billboard Billboard] . The core algorithm consists of a highly modifiedphase vocoder that allows for the creation of a fixed or moving spectralaverage of an inputsound represented in thefrequency domain . In this sense, the technique is completely analogous to long-exposuretime-lapse photography , insofar as the specific temporal details of the input will become smeared into a singlegestalt impression of time.External links
