The 336 FS was constituted on
22 August 1942 and activated on12 September 1942 . The initial cadre of pilots and aircraft were absorbed from 133 Squadron of theRoyal Air Force (one of the famed Eagle Squadrons).World War II

September 23 ,1942 the 4 FG moved to its initial airfield at Debden; however, the 336 FS moved to a satellite field at Great Sampford. They conducted operations from there until rejoining the group at Debden on30 October ,1942 .Aircraft
