Gary Wheat (born March 12, 1977) is an American
saxophonist residing inBirmingham, Alabama .He was formerly (2005 - 2007) saxophone instructor for the
University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB ). Coleman Hawkins ,Ben Webster , andCharlie Parker , and at other times resembling the more modern funk sounds ofMaceo Parker andMichael Brecker . Wheat attendedVirgil Grissom High School inHuntsville, Alabama , and theUniversity of Alabama , where he studied under professor of saxophone Dr. Jonathan Noffsinger.
