John Dizikes

John Dizikes

John Dizikes Ph.D. (born 1932) is a Professor Emeritus of American Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz, who served as Cowell College provost and who is a recipient of the UCSC Alumni Association's Distinguished Teaching Award.

Dizikes is the author of a number of articles and books and won the 1993 National Book Critics Circle Award. He has an interest in thoroughbred horse racing, and in 2000 wrote a biography of Hall of Fame jockey Tod Sloan.
