Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza

The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza is a performing arts and administrative center located in Thousand Oaks, California. It was built in 1994 on the former site of "Jungleland" at a cost of $63.8 million.

The Civic Arts Plaza contains the Countrywide Performing Arts Center consisting of two theaters. In addition, Thousand Oaks' City Hall is also located on the property. The size of the entire Civic Arts Plaza Complex is convert|208000|sqft|m2|-2|abbr=on, while the size of the Government Center is convert|87000|sqft|m2|-2|abbr=on.

Architecture

The design is similar in style to the original City Hall, which is located on Lynn Rd. across from The Oaks, and to the Grant R. Brimhall Library, which is the main library for the city.

The exterior construction style consists of steel structures, with beige steel-troweled stucco, architectural concrete, a zinc roof and columns, and a sandstone wall finish.

The architect was Antoine Predock. His body of work has grown as much in scale and variety as in influence since 1980, veering from the simple-but-bold California lifeguard cage to the desertlike mass of his Nelson Fine Arts Center at Arizona State University in Tempe.
