Oise . It lies seven miles South-West ofCompiègne on the main road to Senlis andParis . The railway station is on the line from Compiegne toCrépy-en-Valois . It has a population of 3,291, with an average income of €20,442 (1999).During the
First World War it was the scene of fighting on theSeptember 1 ,1914 , and in 1918. it has several war cemeteries. The Verberie French National Cemetery contains the graves of 3,221 French soldiers (of whom 2,339 are unidentified), 52 servicemen from theUnited Kingdom , and one Canadian cavalryman.It was the birth place of
Juliette Adam .
