The station was opened on
2 May 1850 by the"little" North Western Railway , later taken over by theMidland Railway . [Bairstow, p.96] During part of the nineteenth century, the station was known as Bentham High. [Dewick, map 24] The station building, built in the 1950s, is now privately owned. [Bairstow, p.9]ervices
All services are operated by
Northern Rail . There are five services in each direction. One direction leads to Wennington, Carnforth, stnlnk|Lancaster and stnlnk|Morecambe, while the other direction leads to Clapham, stnlnk|Giggleswick and stnlnk|Skipton, terminating finally at stnlnk|Leeds Connections for stnlnk|Bradford Forster Square are available at Shipley, although through trains do operate occasionally if the line to Leeds is closed for engineering work. On Sundays there are two services in each direction (increasing to four in summer).Notes
