Frank K. Allan was born in
Hammond, Indiana , onMay 9 ,1935 . He graduated fromEmory University in 1956. In 1959, he received hisMaster of Divinity from theUniversity of the South inSewanee, Tennessee .He was ordained as
Deacon and later asPriest by Bishop Randolph R. Claiborne, Jr. in 1959. He served at St. Mark's Episcopal Church,Dalton, Georgia for eight years. In 1967, Allan becamerector of St. Paul's inMacon, Georgia , where he served until 1977. From St. Paul's, Allan went to St. Anne's, Atlanta.In 1987, Bishop C. Judson Child consecrated Allan as Bishop
Coadjutor for the Diocese of Atlanta. When Bishop Child retired, Bishop Allan was consecrated Diocesan Bishop (1989).After retiring, Bishop Allan taught at the
Candler School of Theology atEmory University . He also began a ministry forwoodworking calledThe Work of Our Hands .Bishop Allan is remembered for his supportive role for the
