Errol Girdlestone (born
1945 ) is a Britishconductor .He lives in the south of
France , and works from there as as a freelance conductor. His local base is asMusic Director of Syrinx Concerts inVence , an organisation with a professionalorchestra and twochoir s - oneamateur , oneprofessional .He read Music at
Oxford University and subsequently studied conducting inWarsaw . He began his professional career inSt. Paul's Cathedral choir, and as a singer in several London ensembles, including theMonteverdi Choir , Cantores in Ecclesia, and theHilliard Ensemble , of which he was a founder member. He was later to join the music staff of theEnglish National Opera , where he assistedReginald Goodall onWagner's Ring Cycle , before becoming a conductor himself - at theCape Town Opera inSouth Africa .He divides his time equally between
symphonic ,choral , andopera conducting. He has conducted at festivals in theUK ,France ,Austria , andGermany , as well as in theUSA ,Uruguay andSouth Africa .He has a regular relationship with the
Wiener Concert-Verein , the chamber edition of theVienna Symphony Orchestra , and has conducted them inBregenz , theVienna Musikverein , and on tour inFrance .He is also a composer, and has had symphonic works premiered in
France andMonaco byFrançois-René Duchâble , thepianist , andflautist s Jean Ferrandis and Pierre Marcoul.External links
