- Epping Forest Keepers
The Epping Forest Keepers is an ancient body that is responsible for the management and care of
Epping Forest , which covers approximately ten miles of forest, bridleway, woodland, recreational space and parkland stretching fromLeytonstone in eastLondon , north to Epping inEssex . The forest is managed by theCity of London Corporation and is one of many open spaces that comes under their control, even though Epping Forest and the others are geographically a considerable distance from the Square Mile. special constable s under section 43 of theEpping Forest Act 1878 for both the Essex and Metropolitan Police Districts, giving them police powers both inside and outside of the forest. There are currently nineteen such constables.Generally the forest keepers act as
