South Bank railway station serves South Bank area of Middlesbrough in the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire. It is located on the Tees Valley Line 4 km (2½ miles) east of Middlesbrough and operated by Northern Rail which provides all passenger train services. It was opened in July 1984 [ [http://www.staff.ncl.ac.uk/m.h.ellison/nera/october_tour_2000.htm NERA Tour Middlesbrough to Saltburn Tour] ] to replace an earlier structure situated just under a mile further east that was inconveniently sited and in the way of a planned new dockside access road.

There is a very limited service (three trains each way during the morning and evening peaks) Monday to Saturdays westbound to Middlesbrough and eastbound to Saltburn.
