Rashad Anderson

Rashad Shaheed Anderson (born November 9 1983 in Lakeland, Florida) is an American professional basketball player who plays for TDShop.it Livorno in Italian second division, Serie A2. He previously played guard/forward for the UConn Huskies.

High school career

At Kathleen High School in Lakeland, Florida. Anderson averaged 22.8 points a game and finished as the second leading scorer in school history. One of the top 50 recruits in the nation, he was named an All-American as a senior, leading his team to a 106-24 record in his four seasons. College career

A 6' 5" 215 lbs guard, Anderson was a key member of the 2004 National Champion UConn Huskies, but may be best remembered for a play during the regional semifinals of the 2006 NCAA National Tournament against the Washington Huskies. Despite heavy defensive coverage, and with less than two seconds remaining in regulation, Anderson scored a three point basket off a handoff from Marcus Williams, sending the game into overtime with a score of 82 to 82. UConn went on to win in overtime, 98 to 92.

Although the 2004 team was led by juniors Ben Gordon, Emeka Okafor and senior point guard Taliek Brown, Anderson's clutch three-point shooting proved to be valuable down the stretch, particularly in a hard-fought 1 point win over Duke in the Final Four. Anderson scored 28 points, including 6 threes, against the University of Alabama in the regional final that year, and contributed 18 points in the championship win over Georgia Tech.

During his career UConn head coach Jim Calhoun called him "the dagger" because of his penchant for hitting shots at key moments of games. Anderson is known as one of the best clutch three-point shooters in college basketball history. Anderson also finished his career with 276 three pointers, the most in UConn history.
