bonuses = The Prix Maurice de Gheest is a Group 1 flat horse race in France open to thoroughbreds which are three-years-old or above. It is run over a distance of 1,300 metres (approximately 6½ furlongs) at Deauville Racecourse, and it takes place annually in August.

First run in 1922, the race was named in memory of Maurice de Gheest (1850–1920), a member of the "Société des Courses de Deauville" and also a successful racehorse owner.

Due to World War II the Prix Maurice de Gheest was cancelled in 1940. For the remainder of the war, while its regular venue was closed, the race was switched temporarily between Maisons-Laffitte (1941–43, 1945) and Auteuil (1944). Otherwise it has continually taken place at Deauville.

From its launch until 1965 the race was contested over 1,400 metres. This was cut to the present length, 1,300 metres, in 1966. The fastest winning time over the shorter distance is 1m 14.7s, recorded by Seeking the Pearl in 1998.

When the present system of race grading was introduced in 1971, the Prix Maurice de Gheest was initially classed as a Group 3 event. It was promoted to Group 2 status in 1980 and then to the highest level, Group 1, in 1995.
