Pietro (Libertino) Liberi (
1605 -18 October ,1687 ) was an Italian painter of theBaroque era, active mainly inVenice and the Veneto.Liberi was born in
Padua , his earliest training was withAlessandro Varotari ("il Padovanino"). He traveled extensively in Italy. During a voyage toIstanbul , he was captured into bondage for 8 months by pirates fromTunis .
