Dr J. A. F. (Jack) Garrick (fl. 1953-1999) is a prominent
ichthyologist from New Zealand. He specialized inelasmobranch s and published many books and articles about shark and ray biology. He is the species authority for several types of sharks, including theNew Zealand lanternshark . Garrick was a zoology professor atVictoria University of Wellington , appointed to a personal chair in 1971.
