Jon Levasseur was the lead and rhythm guitarist for extreme metal band Cryptopsy. He featured on every album up until "Once Was Not" where he only played guitar on the first track. Up until 2005 he was the main writer of many of the albums Cryptopsy released. He would often write the music and drummer Flo Mounier would do the arrangments. He retired his position in 2005 and said that his "inspiration for such extreme music was growing thin". But also noted that he is very proud of what Cryptopsy has accomplished as a band. He has yet to comment on any new material Cryptopsy has put out.
