Blackfoot High School was founded in the early 1890s. The current school building, built in the 1950s, was given a new science wing in the mid 1990's and in the early 2000s, auditorium and gymnasium. The school, sitting adjacent to Stoddard Elementary, has full athletic grounds and a fine arts wing.
Athletics
Blackfoot has had a long tradition of athletics, winning 4A state wrestling in 2007 and again in 2008, and the Broncos football team's 12-0 2007 season ended in a state victory, the first since 1933 for the schoolFact|date=June 2008.

A Capella choir has won several awardsFact|date=June 2008 in the Pacific Northwest. The school marching, jazz, and symphonic bands under the direction of Jan Eddington, have also received acclaim in the regionFact|date=June 2008.Debating

debate team has won over 8 state championships during the 1980s and 1990'sFact|date=June 2008. In 2005-06 the team won the State A Policy Debate championship, due to the scoring system, beating rivalHillcrest High School . The team competes locally and participates at a few larger national circuit tournaments, such as the "Tournament of Champions" at Whitman College, and the Alta Silver and Black, inAlta, Utah . The team has also qualified students to theNational Forensics League tournamentFact|date=June 2008. The team is a member of the prestigious 200 Club with over 200 degrees and membership.Newspaper
The Blackfoot High School newspaper, BroncWriter, has 8 published issues. This year the BroncWriter has a staff of 8 plus their supervisor Mrs. Gallegos of room 511. The editors are Megan Gasca (Sports), Hunter Phillips (News), Alisia Hill (Ads), Cassidy Miles (Lifestyles), and Savanna Price (Managing). The staffers include Nate Walker, Meghan (unknown), Ethan (unknown), and Kylee (unknown). The first issue of this school year will be out September 19th on Friday. The BroncWriter is currently being re-constructed.
