Billy Lee Evans (born
November 10 ,1941 ) was an Americanpolitician who served in both theGeorgia House of Representatives and the U.S. House of Representatives.Evans was born in
Tifton ,Tift County , Georgia, in 1941. He attended public schools and earned his first degree from theUniversity of Georgia . Admitted to the Georgia bar in 1965, soon Evans began practicing law in Macon, Georgia.Evans was a member of the
Georgia House of Representatives from 1969 to 1976. The following year, Evans was elected as a Democrat to theUnited States Congress . He served in Congress fromJanuary 3 ,1977 , toJanuary 3 ,1983 . Evans was unsuccessful in his campaign for renomination in 1982.Evans is also vice president of government relations to a consulting firm in
Washington, D.C. and resides in nearby Vienna,Virginia . He serves on the Board of Drectors ofAmerican Freedom Coalition , an organization founded byChristian Right leaderRobert Grant andCivil Rights leaderRalph Abernathy .References
