Edwin Seroussi

Edwin Seroussi

Edwin Seroussi is a leading contemporary Israeli musicologist of Uruguayan origin.

He was born at Montevideo, and settled in Israel in 1971. He is currently professor of musicology and director of the Jewish Music Research Centre at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. His research interests include Jewish musical traditions in North Africa and the Middle East, as well as Israeli popular music.

Seroussi's publications include "Spanish-Portuguese Synagogue Music in Reform Sources from Hamburg" (1996) and the "Cancionero sefardi" (1995) by Alberto Hemsi.
