Anthem is a song written by Canadian rock trio Rush. It appears on their "Fly by Night" album from 1975. The lyrics are heavily influenced by novelist and objectivist Ayn Rand, whose ideas heavily influenced Rush lyricist Neil Peart at the time. The song's title is the same as Rand's novella "Anthem".

Like Rand's writings, the lyrics speak about individualism, love and respect for the self and the ego. The song urges its listeners to live for themselves and realize that they are in charge of their own lives.Fact|date=July 2008 Musically, "Anthem" is a classic example of early Rush with heavy, loud and fast guitar, drum, and bass playing. Vocally, the song features the very high-pitched, early singing, style of Geddy Lee.
