Alex Bogomolov, Jr.

Alex Bogomolov Jr. (born April 23, 1983), is an American professional, touring tennis player.

Born in Moscow, Russia, the 5'10" Bogomolov was the number one ranked USTA player for the 18s section in 2000 [http://www.usta.com/protennis/fullstory.sps?iNewsid=204176] , and had a career high ranking of World No. 97 on November 3, 2003, but had dropped to #198 in the world as of May 26, 2008 (ATP ranking).

In 1998, Bogomolov won the USTA National Boys’ 16 Championships, defeating Andy Roddick in the final. As of July, 2005, he had won three singles championships and one doubles title on the USTA circuit.

In 2005 he was suspended for three months due to a positive doping test during the Australian Open. The banned substance found was salbutamol, which Bogomolov admitted taking through an inhaler to treat exercise-induced asthma. However, he had not filed the proper paperwork and was not covered by an exemption.

Bogomolov is Anna Kournikova's former hitting partner, and, until recently, was married to American tennis player Ashley Harkleroad. The two, however, split up as of 2006.
