The Bolero Camper is the pick-up version of Mahindra's Bolero UV. A basic pick-up with an optional Air Conditioner for comfort and designed to be a rugged vehicle.

Design

It's powered by a 72 bhp (54 kW) turbo charged diesel engine.

The Camper is propelled by a 2523 cc turbocharged direct injection diesel engine.

Default Tyres: 235/75 R15 Goodyear Wrangler radials.

Mileage 12.2 km/L (8.20 L/100 km; 29 mpg_-US) fuel economy in city with AC. Mileage 14 km/L (7.1 L/100 km; 33 mpg_-US) fuel economy on highway at around 80 to 100 km/h with AC.

Drive: Manual with 4WD option, no power steering.

Retail Price: around Rs 4.78 lakh in Feb 2006 (without AC)

Driving Impressions

Mahindra Bolero is a basic utility vehicle that is well-suited to Indian conditions. Even though it is based on a decades old platform, its high ground clearance makes it easier to drive on rural Indian roads. Equipped with 2500 cc diesel engine, it has become the vehicle of choice for rural populace.

Bolero's interiors are designed for paved roads as well as untarred roads and hilly terrain. Its non-adjustable seats, vague steering, basic AC, and 4-speaker Kenwood/Sony music system all contribute to a less than exciting, crude and agricultural driving experience.

Mahindra Bolero is available in seven variants - GLX, SPORTZ, DX, DI, XLS, XL, INVADER, and CAMPER.

Mahindra & Mahindra has launched an upgraded variant of Bolero Camper in 2007, the Bolero Camper DX, priced at Rs 5.5 lakh.

Mahindra Bolero in India^[1] In recent few days, Mahindra & Mahindra has recently launched few more variants of Mahindra Bolero in India to make its position more stronger in the Indian auto market. These variants are Mahindra Bolero DI, DI Plus, SLE, SLX (in both 4X2 and 4X4 trim), and VLX CRDI. All these variants are equipped with the companies popular 2.5L, 2523cc, CRDI (Common Rail Diesel Engine) diesel engine. Also, Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to to launch cheaper version of Bolero, which would be named as Mahindra Bolero EX. All of these variants of Mahindra Bolero are priced in the range of Rs 4.9 to 6.71 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi)
