Indian Summer was an early and influential American
emocore band originally fromOakland, California . Their sound leaned heavily on loud-soft dynamics, pushed to the extremes on either end. Many of their songs built up to chaotic, cathartic climaxes; in which the singer screamed the lyrics (often past the point of easy intelligibility) while the band tore into their instruments. The other end of the spectrum involved spoken or whispered lyrics, coupled with delicately picked single note guitar lines and light drumming. The band released a full 7" on
Repercussion Records , split 7" with Embassy, and split 7 inches with Current andOrdination of Aaron . They also released a song on the "Eucalyptus" compilation (2x7") onTree Records , a song on the "Food Not Bombs" compilation LP onInchworm Records , and a song on the "Ghost Dance" compilation (2x7") onSlave Cut Records . The discography "Science 1994" was released in 2002/2008 and "Hidden Arithmetic" in 2006, both on theFuture Recordings label.Note on naming: Indian Summer did not name any of their songs, and as such multiple names have been invented by fans. Where multiple titles exist in common use, both are given, separated by a slash.
