Frederick William Smith (31 March 1861 in Uitenhage, Cape Province – 17 April 1914 in Johannesburg, Transvaal) was an South African cricketer who played in 3 Tests from 1889 to 1896.

Smith had an obscure background, and captained both Kimberley and Transvaal and was instrumental in the formation of the Transvaal Cricket Union. He won many trophies as a sprinter. He was a quick scoring batsman, a wicket-keeper as well as a change bowler.
