Yau Ma Tei , passes through the newCentral Kowloon Route and an unnamed submarinetunnel which together leads to the underground of formerKai Tak Airport , junctioning Route 5 on the way. Then the route junctionsKwun Tong Bypass of Route 2 inKowloon Bay , and runs through an underground tunnel toLam Tin , where it junctions with Route 2 again at the entrance toEastern Harbour Crossing and runs into another proposed route, Tseung Kwan O -Lam Tin Tunnel to southernTseung Kwan O .The route, when completed, is expected to relieve the congestion problem in Kowloon, and will also serve as an alternative route for the existing Tseung Kwan O Tunnel.
