John Alexander Jameson (born June 30, 1941, near Bombay (now Mumbai, India) is a former English cricketer who played in 4 Tests and 3 ODIs from 1971 to 1975.
Jameson represented Warwickshire from 1960 until 1976.
A hard hitting batsman he scored 240 not out against Gloucestershire at Edgbaston in 1974, sharing a second wicket partnership of 465 with Rohan Kanhai. An occasional wicketkeeper and off spin bowler, Jameson was a first class umpire between 1984 and 1987 as well as working as a pitch inspector for ECB.
His brother TEN Jameson appeared for Warwickshire and Cambridge University in 1970.

Influence on Bangladesh cricket

Being born in the sub continent, he always took special interest in South Asian cricket. He came to Bangladesh twice with MCC sides, first in 78-79 and again in 80-81. He became an instant hit with the cricketing public of Dhaka, not so much for his cricket, but more for his rather bulky figure. Later on he served the Bangladesh cricket as a coach and helped in the early development of cricket in Bangladesh.
