Sahab (سحاب) is a city in the Kingdom of
Jordan , south east of the capitalAmman . Sahab is well-known for its Industrial Estate, the Islamic Cemetery, and Kahf of Raqeem site mentioned in theQur'an (Surat al-Kahf ).The earliest inhabitants in Sahab have immigrated mostly fromPalestine during the era of theOttoman Empire in the 1850s. Three majorclans first inhabited the city:Maharmah (المحارمه [http://ar.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%AD%D8%A7%D8%B1%D9%85%D9%87] ) and Zyood(الزيود)and eltahrawa (الطهاروه)is consider to be first who build sahab. A large number ofPalestinian refugees account for almost half of the city's population. Like many cities in Jordan, a minority of Egyptian workforce live and work in the area. Recently Chinese workforce started settling in the area working in textile factories in the industrial estate.Famous places in Sahab
*Sahab Industrial City.
*Al-Raqaim. This place is mentioned in the Qur'an. The story of "Ahlul-Kahf" or the people of the cave comes in a Surah with the same name. It tells a story about a number of young men who took refuge in a cave (Al-Raqaim) near Sahab, after they fled their places of residence fearing the worse would come after embracing and converting to a new religion. After they slept in the cave for 309 years, God sent them awake and their cave was discovered by the people of the city who were believers after all that time.
