Roger Davidson

Dr Roger Madgwick Davidson (18 August 1923 - ) is an Australian medical practitioner who initiated the most comprehensive sports injury surveillance study at schoolboy level over a 30 year period.

Early life

Davidson was born in Sydney, New South Wales, the son of medical practitioner Dr James Madgwick Davidson. His uncle was Sir Alfred Davidson, General Manager of the Bank of New South Wales. He attended Newington College (1932-1940) [Newington College Register of Past Students 1863-1998 pp48(Syd, 1999)] and then the University of Sydney from where he graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in 1945 [ [http://www.bull.usyd.edu.au/as/ Alumni Sydneienses] ]

Medical career

Davidson was in general practice in Enmore, New South Wales and was the medical officer for the neighbouring Newington College. In the thirty year period in which he held this role he initiated Australia's most comprehensive sports injury surveillance study at schoolboy level.
