Andre Bernard Gurodecite web|title=Gurode on Pro-Football-Reference |work=rbref.com |url=http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GuroAn20.htm|accessdate=2007-12-19] (last name pronounced as "ger-ROD") (born March 6, 1978 in Houston, Texas) is an American football center for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League. He played high school football at North Shore High School. He was selected with the fifth pick of the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft out of the University of Colorado [ [http://www.databasefootball.com/draft/draftyear.htm?yr=2002&lg=NFL 2002 NFL Draft on databaseFootball.com ] ] .

On October 1, 2006, in the third quarter of a game against the Tennessee Titans, Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth stomped on Gurode's head, after removing Gurodes's helmet. Haynesworth's cleats caused a laceration requiring thirty stitches [ [http://sportsline.com/nfl/story/9700905 Dallas Cowboys, Andre Gurode, Albert Haynesworth, Will Ofenheusle, National Football League, Tennessee Titans - CBSSports.com ] ] . Haynesworth was ejected, and subsequently suspended by the NFL for five games without pay.

He was named the starting center for the 2006 season following training camp, replacing Al Johnson.

Following the 2006 NFL season, Andre Gurode was named to his first Pro Bowl as an injury replacement. Prior to that, Gurode had been considered a "pro-bowl snub" after not originally being selected.

On February 20, 2007, the Cowboys re-signed Gurode to a six-year contract worth $30 million USD including a $10 million dollar signing bonus. After another productive season, he made the Pro Bowl again.
