Angus Mortimer

Angus Mortimer (born September 4, 1985) is a Canadian athlete currently attending Carleton University, who paddles out of the Rideau Canoe Club. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, he is a member of Team Canada and is will be competing in four-man kayaking event at the 2008 Summer Olympics. He paddled as a member of Team Canada at the 2006 Senior World Sprint Canoe Championships in Szeged, Hungary, held August 17 to 20, 2006.

At the 2006 Canadian Sprint Canoe Championships held on Lake Wascana in Regina, Saskatchewan held August 23 to 26, 2006, he posted some impressive results:

*Senior Men's K-1 500m 1st place 1:39.823
*Senior Men's K-1 1000m 2nd place 3:35.620
*Senior Men's K-2 500m 1st place 1:34.404 (with Ryan Cochrane)
*Senior Men's K-4 1000m 2nd place 3:09.810 (with Ryan Cochrane / Corey Hamilton / Rhys Hill)
*Junior Men's K-1 200m 1st place 0:36.019
*Junior Men's K-2 500m 1st place 1:33.443 (with Rhys Hill)
*Open Men's K-4 200m 2nd place 0:32.094 (with Ryan Cochrane / Rhys Hill / Matthew Raymond)

He is currently ranked second in Canada for K1 500m and K1 1000m behind the Olympic champion at 500m Adam Van Koeverden. His brother, Ian Mortimer, is also a high-level paddler and Team Canada member in the canoe discipline.
