Paul Emerick (born
January 24 ,1980 ) is a USA international rugby player. In 2008 Emerick joined French club Bezier from Welsh regional sideNewport Gwent Dragons . His position is centre or fullback. Emerick played his university rugby with theNorthern Iowa Panthers , thenChicago Lions . He moved to Italian rugby in the 2004-05 season joiningAmatori Catania . In the summer of 2006 Emerick completed a move to Celtic League side Newport Gwent Dragons, the side he helped knock out of theHeineken Cup in a playoff a few months earlier withOvermach Parma .Emerick was first
capped by the USA Eagles in April 2003 against Spain and as of September 2007 Emerick has been capped 25 times scoring 8 tries (40 points).Emerick received a yellow card in the closing minutes of the Eagles' 2007 World Cup match against England for a spear tackle on England's Olly Barkley which sent the English flyhalf flipping through the air, landing dangerously around his head. Emerick was subsequently suspended for five weeks, ruling him out of the remaining World Cup campaign.
