"Red Hill Mining Town" is the sixth track from U2's 1987 album, "The Joshua Tree".

The song was initially intended as the third single from the "Joshua Tree" album. However, the band later realized they would be unable to play it live every night (since the notes were too high for Bono).Fact|date=February 2007 "Where the Streets Have No Name" was released instead. The music video for the song, directed by Neil Jordan, was never released until November 20, 2007 where it finally appears on the bonus DVD of the 20th Anniversary Super Deluxe Box reissue of "The Joshua Tree".

Bono has said that the song is about the 1984 UK mining strike and its strain on relationships at the time.Fact|date=February 2007 In particular, inspiration was drawn from the Tony Parker book "Red Hill: A Mining Community".
