Gunnar Høst Sjøwall

Gunnar Høst Sjøwall (born 1935) is a Norwegian portrait photographer and former competitive tennis player.

Sjøwall had his apprenticeship with Edvard Welinder in Stockholm and was educated at Institutt for Färgfoto (Institute for Color Photography) in Lund, Sweden. He took over the studio his father, Gunnar Theodor Sjøwall in 1968.

Sjøwall has completed a number of portrait assignments for the Norwegian Royal Family, the Norwegian Nobel Institute, and other large organizations. He won the Portrait of the Year award in Photography Yearbook in 1967, has worked on assignment from National Geographic, and other national and international awards.

Sjøwall has also completed a number of photographic restorations and has been a vocal spokesman on issues of quality of professional photography.

Sjøwall has won several national championships in tennis and made good showings in several international tournaments.
