Toronto Maple LeafsPlaying career 2000–present Maxim Valerievich Kondratiev (Russian: Максим Валерьевич Кондратьев; born January 20, 1983 in Togliatti, Soviet Union) is a professional ice hockey defenceman who is currently playing for the Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). He was drafted in the 6th round, 168th overall, by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
Kondratiev skated for the Portland Pirates, the AHL affiliate team of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim of the NHL during the second part of the 2005–2006 season. Anaheim acquired Kondratiev in a trade on January 8, 2006, from the New York Rangers. Kondratiev arrived in Portland that day to play for the Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' AHL team, but skated for the Pirates after learning he had been traded (for Petr Sýkora and a fourth-round pick in the 2007 entry draft[1]). He signed to play for the Russian Hockey Super League team HC Lada Togliatti for the 2006–2007 season.
Maxim Kondratiev returned to Anaheim to play for the NHL club Anaheim Ducks in the 07–08 season. In November 2007, he was re-assigned to the club's AHL affiliate Portland Pirates, but was suspended by the club after failing to report to Portland. He has returned to Russia to play for St. Petersburg and remains the property of the Anaheim Ducks.
