Theodore Emanuel Schmauk, D.D., LL.D. (
May 30 ,1860 -March 23 ,1920 ) was an Americantheologian and editor, born atLancaster, Pennsylvania , and educated at theUniversity of Pennsylvania (class of 1883). He went into church work as apastor atLebanon, Pennsylvania , became editor in chief of the "Lutheran Church Review" (1895), and in 1903 was elected president of the General Council of theEvangelical Lutheran Church in North America . In 1911 he accepted the chair ofChristian Faith and Apologetics at theLutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia . His writings include:* "The Fugitive Criticism of the Old Testament" (1894)
* "Manual of Bible Geography" (1901)
* "History of the Lutheran Church in Pennsylvania" (1903)
* "Account of the German Inhabitants of Pennsylvania" (1910)
