Robert "Bob" Monette is an
Ottawa City Council lor fromOrléans Ward in the city's east end. He was elected onJanuary 9 ,2006 in a by-election to replace outgoing councilorHerb Kreling . Monette won the election with 34% of the vote defeating seven other candidates.Previously, Monette was a township councillor in Cumberland Township from 1985 to 1991. In 1991, Monette ran for mayor of Cumberland but lost to incumbent
Brian Coburn . In 1994, Monette ran for a seat on the regional council of theRegional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton but lost to Kreling in a race that was so close, it had to go to a re-count. Monette ended up losing by 23 votes.
