O'Connor Biography (1963-) ] ] (born November 15, 1963) is an American actor known for playing character roles in major studio movies such as "The Mummy," "Clive Barker's Lord of Illusions", "F/X2" and as Igor in the 2004 movie "Van Helsing". He is a favorite of writer/director Stephen Sommers, who usually casts him in his films.

Biography

O'Connor was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Patricia Connelly, a teacher, and James O'Connor, a police officer. He also has a brother, Christopher O'Connor who teaches art and Latin at Ted Lenart Regional Gifted Center on Chicago's Southside. He trained as an actor at the Goodman School of Drama at DePaul University. In Chicago, he appeared in the stage production "El Salvador" by Raphael Lima (1989) at the Steppenwolf Theatre. He made his New York, off-Broadway debut in "The Colorado Catechism" by Vincent J. Cardinal (1990) at the Circle Repertory Company.

He made his big-screen debut as the high school rebel, Michael Fitzsimmons, in Francis Ford Coppola's "Peggy Sue Got Married" (1986). O'Connor worked with writer/director Stephen Sommers on the 1998 science-fiction adventure film "Deep Rising" and often appears in his movies, including "The Mummy", where he plays the betraying friend Benny and "Van Helsing", in which he played Count Dracula's devious servant Igor. He also recently appeared in "There Will Be Blood" as Henry, the man who claims to be the brother of Daniel Day-Lewis's character.
