railway station servingHartwood inNorth Lanarkshire ,Scotland . It is located on theShotts Line 31 km (19 miles) east of Glasgow Central towards Edinburgh Waverley. The station has two platforms, connected by a stairway footbridge. It is managed byFirst ScotRail .The station was built within the grounds of Hartwood Hospital, a major psychiatric hospital, which used to provide the bulk of the passenger traffic. This hospital was closed in 1999, with its services transferred to the nearby Hartwoodhill Hospital, but this is too far away to make use of the train station.
ervices
Due to the very low usage of the station, it is one of those earmarked to be skipped by new express services planned for the line in order to speed up the service from Glasgow to Edinburgh.Fact|date=July 2008
