9 September 1902 following the liquidation of another local side, Berwick Rangers. They took over Berwick's fixture list in the Birmingham & District League.Worcester's finest football moment was their
FA Cup victory over Liverpool (then in the old second division, shortly before the legendaryBill Shankly took over as manager), beating their illustrious opponents 2-1 in 1959. They lost in the 4th round to Sheffield United, in a match which setSt George's Lane 's record attendance of 17,042.After leaving the Birmingham League, Worcester City entered
Southern Football League and remained there until the formation of the Alliance Premier League in 1979.
