Black & White Records began as a family-owned business in 1945. Paul Reiner was president and his wife, Lillian was vice president. The first recording of "
Open the Door, Richard " by tenor saxistJack McVea was recorded on this label. Lena Horne recorded albums for this label in 1946 and 1947.
