Hal Porter

Harold Edward (Hal) Porter (16 February 191129 September 1984) was a notable Australian novelist and playwright. He published short stories and poems in many publications throughout his life.

Porter was born in Albert Park, Victoria [ [http://www.britannica.com/eb/article-9060969/Hal-Porter Hal Porter] Britannica Online Accessed: 21 October 2007] , grew up in Bairnsdale, Victoria and worked as a journalist, teacher and librarian. His first stories were published in 1942 and by the 1960s he was writing full time.
