Hugh Lindsay (equerry)

Major Hugh Lindsay, LVO (1954 – 1988), was Equerry to Her Majesty The Queen 1983-1986.

Lindsay was educated at the Millfield. He was a career soldier who served in the 9th/12th Royal Lancers. He married the 33-year old Miss Sarah Brennan MVO in 1987.

Major Lindsay was killed in 1988 in a ski accident after being caught up in an avalanche on Gotschnagrat Mountain while accompanying His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales on a holiday in Klosters, Switzerland. He was made an LVO in 1986.
