The channel was wholly owned by Universal Music Group, but played artists from all labels. IMF started broadcasting in 2005.

The visual identity of the Network was created by widely acclaimed design and production company, Bran New School [http://www/] Brand New Schol directed various commercials and show opens, even designign the logo which would prove to be their first and last.

IMF programming was also available on Sprint PCS, Amp'd Mobile, the Sky Music mobile package on Vodafone in the UK, Ireland and SFR in France.
