James Edward (Ted) Malcolm Newall (born
20 August 1935 ) is a Canadian businessman, the son of Robert Robertson Newall and Lillian Alice Sheldon.Born in
Holden, Alberta and raised inPrince Albert, Saskatchewan , he received aBachelor of Commerce degree from theUniversity of Saskatchewan in 1958, and married Margaret Elizabeth Lick, 14 February 1959 inToronto . His three children were born in the span of 6 years, 1959 to 1965. He started working atDuPont Canada rising to become chairman, president and CEO by 1979. In 1991, he became CEO of NOVA Corporation.He is Chairman of the Board of
Canadian Pacific Railway and has been a director of several major companies, includingAlcan , BCE Inc.,Bell Canada ,Maple Leaf Foods , and theRoyal Bank of Canada .In 1993, he was made an Officer of the
Order of Canada for being a "leading oil and manufacturing executive". In 2001, he was inducted into theCanadian Business Hall of Fame .He has received honorary degrees from the
University of Calgary , theUniversity of Saskatchewan , theUniversity of Regina and theUniversity of Ottawa . From 1996 to 2001, he was chair of theUniversity of Calgary 's Board of Governors.he is the proud Grandfather of eight grandchildren
