Joe Wineke

Joe Wineke

Joe Wineke (born January 5, 1957) is a former U.S. congressional candidate and former member of the Wisconsin State Senate. He currently serves as Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.

In 1998, Wineke ran for the open seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Scott Klug in the U.S. House of Representatives. He was defeated in the Democratic primary, receiving 27 percent of the vote and coming third out of three candidates. Tammy Baldwin won both the primary and general election and has served as Wisconsin's second district congresswoman ever since.

Joe Wineke, now 49, was born in Fitchburg, Wisconsin and raised in Verona, Wisconsin. He and his wife, Debora, have three children, Scott, Brian and Jessica.
