Lorenz is an alumnus ofCarnegie Tech and thePratt Institute .http://www.artoftheprint.com/artistpages/lorenz_lee_eccefemina.htm] His first published cartoon appeared in 1956, and he began working for "The New Yorker" as a commissioned artist from 1958 onwards.Lorenz became art editor at "The New Yorker" in 1973. He retired as art editor in 1998.
He received the
National Cartoonist Society Gag Cartoon Award for1995 for his work.
