The Caribou Show

The Caribou Show is a locally-produced sketch comedy television show, which was recorded in the Sioux Falls, South Dakota area. The half-hour show was broadcast weekly on Sunday mornings at 12:30AM on KDLT.

The program's original title was "Captain Caribou". Initially, the program started out with a spoof of the long running "Captain Kangaroo" program, featuring Chuck Brennan as Captain Caribou.

Much of the show's comedy was often based on South Dakota topics, such as the abortion ban, gun control, and home schooling. A number of sketches appeared on the show regularly, including "Booby Boobenheimer", "Harry Back", and "Ag East of Salem". Other sketches were parodies of well known television programs, such as "Antiques Roadshow". The show also lampooned local political figures, including Dave Munson and Vernon Brown.

"The Caribou Show" was written and directed by the show's creator, Todd Magnuson. Much of the show was actually shot in Todd Magnuson's home. The cast included Terri Lawrenz, John "Barnie" Barnes, Chuck Brennan, Amanda Bumann, Dan Eisenhauer, Todd Magnuson, Bart Naasz, T-Roy Neilson, Scott Pederson, and Brian "Ring a Ding" Dingler. Model Terri Lawrenz is the most recent addition to the cast. The show is owned and copyrighted by Caribou Productions.

The Caribou Show was seen locally, and skits were updated on the website [http://www.cariboushow.com www.cariboushow.com] . Later, the show planned to expand to other markets.

The program's nearly seven year run ended with broadcast of the last episode on October 27, 2007. The show's successor was a spin-off from Caribou Productions called "Out and About with Terri and Todd". This new program, based on the "T n T" segments from the "Caribou Show", was broadcast on Saturdays at 10:00pm on KCPO.

Cast appearances on other networks

Lawrenz has appeared on the Food Network as well as The Apprentice 6, Magnuson on the hay-oriented Bales, and Eisenhauer on "The 700 Club".

Movie project

In 2005, the people from Caribou Productions completed work on their first film, "It's Really Something". The movie is a spoof of the 1968 film, "It's Alive". The premise of the 2005 remake is that a crazed South Dakota farmer's pet dinosaur feeds on tourists. The film will be distributed on DVD worldwide by Troma Entertainment.

Caribou Productions has also just finished production of their second feature film "Lost Valley of Cavemen." this is an original, campy scientists get lost in a valley of cavemen and dinosaurs. The premiere date was September 29, 2006.
