KLQV is superior to XHOCL because their antenna is on top ofMount Soledad , XHOCL being located on top of Mount San Antonio in Tijuana. KLQV's switch to Spanish oldies has paid off. Their Fall 2005 ratings, according toArbitron , had an overall rating of 1.0. In early 2006, after the switch to Spanish oldies, the ratings soared to 3.4, making it the #1 ratedSpanish language radio station in theSan Diego -Tijuana radio market.Prior to becoming a Spanish broadcaster, they had the calls KSDO, programming a Top 40 format as KS103, and later a classic rock format.
