One of the biggest geckos (reaching 350 mm or more). It is named after Andrew Smith (1797-1872), Scottish zoologist and founder of the South African Museum.
Similar looking species include "Gekko taylori" and "Gekko gecko". Also similar to "Gekko verreauxii" (from the Andaman and
Nicobar Islands ) and "Gekko siamensis" (from central Thailand).Distribution
